Pistilli Tatoo!

Some of you may have read one of my older posts entitled ‘Pistilli - Great Ampersand!’

Well American graphic designer Brooke Holder loved my Pistilli ampersand so much she had it tattooed on her person. And fantastic it looks too! It is a first for me to have my type permanently attached to another human being, or at least I think it is!

I love to see my how my typefaces are used and interpreted by other people, so if anyone out there has any examples of my fonts in action let me know!

 

Accidental Typographic Genius!

Who would ever mix Bodoni, Antique Olive, and Cooper Black, but strangely, I really love it.  Obviously a total accident but a stroke of genius maybe!

 

Found typography in France

Some cool distressed type that reminded me of Jasper Johns paintings.

 

French Stone Cut Typography

Here are some great examples of French stone cutting, featuring some really nice character shapes.

There are also some good examples of 18th Century Graffiti.

 







 

Found typography at MoM in Manchester

Visited the Museum of Museums in Manchester and found some great old typography. They had amazing old bus destination rollers that had been unrolled, and some great old signage and vehicle livery. 

 










 

Old Brand Signage.

Also whilst at Poynton Garden Centre and came across these great old brand signs/ads.

 


 

Amazing Old Railway Type

Found this great collection of old railway typography and signage at Poynton Garden Centre in Cheshire. Fabulous selection of Gill Sans, Johnson, and Transport as well as some great old display fonts made of wood and cast in metal. Excuse the image quality as the shots were taken on my iPhone.

DST Rub On typeface used by Cusquena.

Just noticed that Cusquena are using my Rub On typeface that I designed back in 1996.
